citi-prestige-cardFor the July 4th weekend, I’ll be going to Cleveland. I know its not the most glamorous location but it lets me spend some time with friends I haven’t seen in a long time. I went ahead and booked my ticket on American (Alaska didn’t let me book a flight a Cleveland) using gift certificates I had.

The major thing outstanding is where I’ll be staying. I could stay with my friend Constantine, get an AirBnB or get a hotel. Since I’ll probably be out late, staying with my friend and his 2 kids under the age of 5 isn’t an option. I checked the rates on AirBnB and the prices were ridiculous just for a private room. So I decided to just book a hotel room with my Citi Prestige card.

Booking with Citi Prestige

One of the benefits of Citi Prestige card is the 4th night free benefit. The 4th night free benefit gives you a 1 night rebate when you stay 4 nights at any hotel through the Citi concierge.

I called up the Citi concierge (561-922-0158) and provided my name and my billing zip code. I told the concierge that I wanted to the stay at the DoubleTree Cleveland-Westlake.

I expected the concierge to come back with a rate of $139/night since that was the flexible rate on the Hilton website but to my surprise she asked if I was a Hilton Hhonors member and she gave me a rate of $104/night, the HHonors sale rate. I gave the concierge my HHonors number,  verified my credit card information and the room was booked.

I received a confirmation email from the Doubletree with the rate that I was given from the concierge and well as an email from Citi indicating that I would receive a rebate of 121.45 USD (104.25 USD plus taxes). The process overall was quick and painless.

Even though the Citi Prestige carries an annual fee of $450/year. The 4th night free benefit will more than make up for the fee if you use it 1 or times a year and also use the $250 airfare credit, lounge access and the global entry rebate.
